There are thousands of Real Estate websites but few are using the power of RSS to promote their services.

One simple way a local agent (San Diego Realtor for example) could differentiate their website from others would be to include an RSS feed on listings available in the agents area.

A simple real estate RSS feed would include some photos, links back to the real estate agent website, brief title, a few paragraphs about the property being sold, and maybe a couple of other items. Using a tool like this people visiting the realtors website would be able to “subscribe” to the RSS feed and get the most up to date information about listings directly to their email account or RSS Reader.

The technology is free and there are numerous scripts to make this happen on nearly any website platform. Watch for some step-by-step posts on how to incorporate real estate listing information into your website. Post a comment if you want me to cover something in particular.

The use of RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is increasingly being seen on real estate web sites and blogs.

One of the most popular web sites using RSS feeds for real estate related information is the Real Estate Journal (owned by the Wall Street Journal). The Real Estate Journal has and RSS tool kit (link to: Real Estate Journal) that allows people to view real estate related content via an RSS aggregator or reader.

The Journal website currently offers two different feeds for real estate information. One feed is focused on residential property news and information, and the other exists in the category of commercial property news and information.

The New York Times also has RSS feeds available on the real estate section of their web site. (link to: NY Times Real Estate) Most of their feeds are related to articles and news in the area of real estate. Visit the New York Times web site link above to subscribe to their real estate RSS feed.

The Washington Post web site has an RSS feed dedicated to real estate in the Maryland, West Virginia, and North Virginia areas. You can get a direct link to the Washington Post real estate RSS feed here: Washington Post RSS

Subscribe to the RSS feeds on RSSrealtor.com to get the latest news on web sites using RSS technology in both the commercial and residential real estate industries.

The RSS realtor web site is open for business.
Don’t expect to see too many blog posts to this web site as it is for sale and we just don’t have too much time to keep it well enough maintained.
Will keep making posts until the domain is sold and ownership is transferred.
Have a spectacular day!
